Notice of the Eighth "International Seminar of Teaching Chinese Language" (No. 2)


To everyone who concerns,

The eighth "International Seminar of Teaching Chinese Language", one of the series activities of "World Cihnese Conference", will be held in Beijing after the conference is over. Detailed information is as follows:

1. Place and time:

A. Time: July 23-25, 2005 (Registration is on July 22), for three days.

B. Place: Beijing, China. (Registration place will be notified in the invitation letter.

2. Expenses:

A. Traveling expenses to and back, lodging and boarding during the conference, will be yours.

B. Conference fee: 800 RMB, or 100 USD. (Members of the Worldwide Chinese Language Teaching Association who have paid membership fees will get 50% discount)

C. Early leaving won't get a refund for conference fees, lodging and boarding.

3. Topics for the seminar

Under the theme of World Chinese Conference, "Chinese language development under a worldwide multi-cultural structure", the topics for the eighth international seminar will be as follows:

A. Subject building and research of approaches for teaching Chinese as the second language.

B. Research of models for teaching Chinese as the second language.

C. Development of teaching materials and the team of teachers

D. Research and application of modern educational technology in teaching Chinese as the second language.

E. Principal study of teaching Chinese as the second language.

F. Study of the strategic development for teaching Chinese as the second language.

G. Situation of Teaching Chinese in primary and middle schools outside China.

4. The working language will be Chinese.

5. Invitation letters will be mailed out before April 30, 2005. Due to limited space, admission is only for the invited.
