Theme: The Development of Chinese in a Multicultural World

General Sessions:

Session 1: Multicultural Communication and the Demand for the Chinese Language

(1) Language development in a multicultural framework and Chinese language development policies in countries around the world;

(2) The role of Chinese in promoting cultural, economic and trade exchanges between participants' home countries and China;

(3) Responding to the demand for the Chinese language and services.

Session 2: Operational Mechanisms for Chinese Teaching and Learning in the New Era

(1) Establishment and development of the Confucius Institutes;

(2) Reform and development of the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK);

(3) Plan for professional development of overseas Chinese language teachers;

(4) Innovation of teaching materials and allocation of web-based resources.

Session 3: Prospect for the Development of Second language Education in the World

(1) Research on the theory of second language education;

(2) Introduction to methods for the promotion of second language education;

(3) Research on the theory of teaching Chinese as a second language.

Working Language: Chinese (English simultaneous translation will be provided).
